Match Preview of Man City vs Bayern Munich
The UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg between Manchester City and Bayern Munich is set to take place at the Etihad on Tuesday. Both teams have had some struggles in defending their domestic titles this season, but have been near-faultless in Europe. City, who beat Southampton 4-1 at the weekend, have won their last eight games and have scored 31 goals during this run. Erling Haaland, City's top scorer, has scored a total of 30 Premier League goals this season and has added 10 more in six Champions League games. However, he has never had much success against Bayern, losing all seven encounters during his time with Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern, who are currently top of the Bundesliga, have also been unconvincing domestically and have kept just six clean sheets in their last 16 matches. Their main task will be to tighten up defensively as they face one of the best attacking sides in Europe. Tuchel's Bayern side will be without a fit natural centre forward, as Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting is set to miss out with a knee problem. Sadio Mane may be replaced on the left-hand side by Kingsley Coman, who scored the winning goal away in Paris in their last 16 first leg.
Guardiola will have a near-fully fit squad to choose from, with Phil Foden the only absentee as he recovers from having his appendix removed. He is not expected to tinker with his lineup much, and it could remain largely unchanged from the side that beat Leipzig in the last round. Bernardo Silva may come in for Riyad Mahrez, while the back three should remain unchanged, meaning no place for Aymeric Laporte again. John Stones continues to excel in a midfield role and is preferred to Kalvin Phillips.
Our Predicted Lineups
Man City possible starting lineup:Ederson; Akanji, Ruben Dias, Ake; Stones, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Grealish; Haaland
Bayern Munich possible starting lineup: starting lineup:Sommer; Pavard, De Ligt, Upamecano, Davies; Goretzka, Kimmich, Sane, Musiala, Coman; Muller
Who will win the match?
Our prediction for the upcoming match between Manchester City and Bayern Munich is a 2-2 draw. Although Man City has been in top form recently, Bayern Munich has a strong track record in England, having won three out of their four previous visits. Additionally, Bayern has a flawless record of eight wins in the Champions League this season, making this match a highly anticipated clash between two heavyweights of European football.
