Match Preview of Inter Milan vs Benfica
Benfica will host Inter Milan at the Estadio da Luz on Tuesday for their quarter-final match in the UEFA Champions League. Benfica had an impressive knockout stage, defeating Club Brugge, while Inter Milan eliminated Porto to make it to the quarter-finals after a 12-year gap.
Benfica has been unbeaten in this year's competition, ending on top of a group that included Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, who exited the competition in the group stage. They have scored 23 goals, with only Napoli scoring more than them. Joao Mario has been the star for Benfica, scoring six times, followed by Rafa Silva and Goncalo Ramos with five and three goals respectively. However, Benfica lost 2-1 to Porto in their recent league fixture, and they will be hoping to bounce back from the defeat.
Inter Milan's performance has been lackluster in recent games, winning only one game out of seven across all competitions. They have struggled to score goals, failing to score more than one goal in three of the seven games and failing to find the back of the net in two games. In their recent draw against Salernitana, they missed several chances, with Romelu Lukaku hitting the crossbar and Nicolo Barella hitting the post.
Benfica will be without Goncalo Guedes due to a knee injury, and Julian Draxler will also be out due to ankle surgery. Nicolas Otamendi is suspended, and Mihailo Ristic is likely to miss out due to a hamstring issue. Alex Grimaldo could have a top showing on the left side of Benfica's defence, while Gilberto could replace Alexander Bah at right-back. Andre Onana is expected to keep his place between the sticks.
Inter Milan may miss Milan Skriniar and Hakan Calhanoglu due to injuries. Federico Dimarco could return at left wing-back, replacing Robin Gosens, who scored in Salerno. Inter Milan needs to improve their goalscoring form if they are to defeat Benfica, who have been impressive in this year's Champions League.
Our Predicted Lineups
Inter Milan possible starting lineup:Onana; D'Ambrosio, De Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Brozovic, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Martinez, Dzeko
Benfica possible starting lineup: starting lineup:Vlachodimos; Gilberto, Silva, Verissimo, Grimaldo; Luis, Chiquinho; Mario, Silva, Aursnes; Ramos
Who will win the match?
Our prediction for the upcoming UEFA Champions League quarter-final match between Benfica and Inter Milan is a 3-1 victory for Benfica. Although Inter Milan have a coach with a proven track record in cup competitions, Benfica's impressive attack and the fact that Inter have conceded in six of their last eight games in all competitions make us believe that the Portuguese side will come out on top.
